Capacity Development

RAEIN-Africa working with its technical teams implemented the following trainings for SADC partners from public, nongovernmental, academic, and research institutions:

Innovation platform on Biosafety Socio-economic considerations in Southern Africa on Capacity Development

Capacity building on theory and practice of innovation and multi-stakeholder systems in Agriculture and Rural Development

Representatives (87) from 16 countries in Eastern and Southern Africa trained in Biosafety Risk Assessment and Risk management

Representatives (98) from 11 SADC countries trained on negotiation skills on biodiversity related conventions and protocols

Representatives from 17 laboratories in SADC countries trained in GM detection techniques.

 

Capacity building support for the development of National Biosafety Frameworks (NBFs) including; Public education and public awareness, Biosafety socio-economic considerations and Administrative systems.

Biosafety Authorities workshop on decisions by the fifth COP-MOP and Nagoya-Kuala Lumpur Supplementary Protocol on Liability and Redress to the CPB.

Conferences on innovation systems for poverty reduction and sustainable livelihoods, and climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies

Facilitated High-level policy dialogues on biotechnology and biosafety issues (12 SADC countries participated)

Conference on innovation systems for poverty reduction and sustainable livelihoods (70 participants from 17 countries)

Soft skills training for development workers on effective science communication, fundraising, project proposal writing, etc.
