RAEIN-Africa Structure and Governance

RAEIN-Africa upholds the key tenets of good governance, accountability, transparency and participation.

RAEIN-Africa Board

RAEIN-Africa is governed by an 11 member board with members drawn from the SADC countries. Currently the countries represented on the board are Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.   The Board provides strategic direction and monitors the compliance of RAEIN-Africa with its institutional mandate and policies.

RAEIN-Africa Management Committee (MC)

The Management Committee, made up of the Chairperson of the Board together with two Board members from the country hosting the Regional Office, ensures the effective and efficient implementation of programmes.  

RAEIN-Africa Technical Advisory Committee (TAC)

The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) is a pool of independent, regional, multidisciplinary experts that provide technical backstopping in programme design and implementation to the organization.

RAEIN-Africa Regional Office

RAEIN-Africa is headed by a Regional Executive Director who is supported by a Finance and Administration Manager, an Organizational Development Manager and the Programmes Manager.

National Level Institutional Arrangements for Implementation

At country level, RAEIN-Africa works through a National Contact Institution that shares a similar institutional mandate as RAEIN-Africa. The Contact Institution coordinates and chairs RAEIN-Africa Innovation Platform (RIP) made up of a number of Thematic Innovation Platforms depending on the number of projects being implemented in that country.  

Regional Level Institutional Arrangements

The RAEIN-Africa Regional Thematic Innovation Platforms (RRIP) develop regional projects addressing common priorities as well as provide a fora for sharing of experiences and lessons.  RAEIN-Africa Regional Thematic Innovation Platforms (RRIP) are made up of country representatives from the country innovation platforms.
